Kicking things off, a new parade will be making its way down Main Street U.S.A next Spring. The parade is called “Magic Happens.” Concept art showcases some great looking floats including Sleeping Beauty and more recent Disney additions like Moana and Coco. We also got a big update on the upcoming Marvel land — including an official name! Some time next year, guests will travel to the Avengers Campus. The land inside California Adventure will include Disney’s first Spider-Man themed attraction, which will give guests a taste of what it’s like to have super powers as they sling webs to help Spider-Man collect Spider-Bots that have run amok. There will also be a new restaurant based on Pym Particles from the Ant-Man movies AND of course character meet and greets, including the debut of Ant-Man and the Wasp. Like Star Wars Galaxies Edge, this will open in phases, with the second phase cornerstone being a new E-Ticket ride inside the iconic Avengers Headquarters. We’re still more than 2 years away from Mickey’s Runaway Rail at Disneyland…but we were treated to another look at what the expect from the attraction. As you may know, the attraction will be in ToonTown, at the El CapiTOON Theater, where Mickey and Minnie are premiering their newest short, “Perfect Picnic.” You’ll travel through Mickey Shorts on a zany adventure. D23 showcased a new trailer for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at the expo, including never before seen footage from the not-yet-opened Rise of the Resistance attraction. – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJhHR9unw5k
And if you’re like me…miles away from the park and wanting a bit of the Star Wars experience, you can turn to some music streaming services. Disney added a playlist of six songs heard in Oga’s Cantina…called Oga’s Cantina: R3X’s Playlist #1. Scrims are now down at the Sunset Showcase Theater in Disney California Adventure, revealing an amazing El Capitan-style marquee right next to Award Wieners! The new digital marquee features classic neon lights and signage for Sunset Showcase Theater. A digital screen can be changed to display whatever’s on show in the Theater, be it Mickey’s Philharmagic or whatever show takes its place next. Getting your hands on some Disney merch may be coming to a Target store near you. It wouldn’t be a DLWeekly episode without talking about some ears. The front of the ears feature the Hitchhiking Ghost, the Caretaker Silas Crump, and Master Gracey’s tomb. In lieu of a bow, you have a whole row of Singing Busts. The ears are even double-sided in the sense that they have different designs on the back. The Haunted Mansion logo is topped with a raven on one ear with a skull and the “Let me out!” corpse from the Endless Hallway scene.
