New doughnuts are showing up around the hub. There is a new Up themed doughnut. Its a long john type doughnut, with sky blue frosting featuring the house from Up and chocolate ball balloons. Next there is a doughnut topped with shredded Matterhorn Macaron. The popular pineapple (not Dole Whip) doughnut has returned! These photo worthy treats are made with a pineapple filling, topped with toasted meringue and a colorful umbrella. – https://micechat.com/199876-disneyland-castle-crumbles/ or http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2018/07/10/yes-the-dole-whip-donut-is-back-at-disneyland/
If doughnuts aren’t your thing you can try the new unicorn themed confetti and passion fruit cupcake. It is filled with passion fruit and mango and finished with a white chocolate, champagne mousse. You can find this decadent dessert at the Jolly Holiday Bakery, Clarabelle’s, Fiddler Fifer and Practical Cafe, or at the Coffee House at the Disneyland Hotel. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2018/07/iridescent-sweets-at-disney-parks/
Do you love ice cream? Are you looking to add to your ears collection? Well you are in luck! Disney has released a Micky Ice Cream Bar themed set of sequenced ears. They are chocolate brown, with a pink bow, and they are so delicious that it looks like someone has taken a bite out of them! – https://micechat.com/199876-disneyland-castle-crumbles/
The Cast Member Friends and Family 5k took place this past weekend, on July 14th. This popular event is one of many cast member opportunities that help to promote wellness and healthy living. Cast members spend so much time creating happiness and trying to ensure that all guests have a magical visit. I think its great that they have these exclusive and unique opportunities to enjoy the resort. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2018/07/disneyland-resort-cast-members-row-on-with-annual-canoe-races-tradition-and-other-exclusive-experiences/
A great charity is holding a unique event at Disneyland in the fall that will help to bring separated siblings back together for the day. Together We Rise is putting on Disney Days that will reunite siblings that were separated die to being placed in different foster families. Then event for 2018 is September 22 and 23, a Saturday and Sunday. Volunteer signups are accepted until July 27th. – https://www.togetherwerise.org/disney-days/
Do you like using Instagram? Well, Disney sure thinks you do! As we discussed previously, the resort has been making changes to some of the walls to make them more photogenic or “Instagrammable.” This started in Disney World at the Magic Kingdom, and has spread to Toon Town in Disneyland, Hollywoodland in DCA, and now to the upcoming Pixar Pier attraction. The new wall is painted purple with Inside Out labeled and includes all the emotions so you can take that perfect picture. – https://www.mouseplanet.com/12151/Disneyland_Resort_Update_for_July_1622_2018
Typically, Disney tries to close and work on attractions during the off season to work on refurbishments. However the refurb calendar is already filling up for the summer. Big Thundr is scheduled to be closed July 16th-27th, the Matterhorn will closed on July 30th, Pinocchio will also close on July 30th and is scheduled to re open Aug 3rd, the Tiki Room on Aug 8th, The Haunted Mansion will be closed starting Aug 20th for its Nightmare Before Christmas holiday overlay, and we expect that Space Mountain will also be closed to be turned into Ghost Galaxy hower dates for this closure have not been released yet. – https://micechat.com/199876-disneyland-castle-crumbles/
Over in Adventureland, work has begun on replacing the aging wheelchair lift for the Enchanted Tiki Room. In it’s place, two ramps are being installed. These will probably debut when the attraction comes back from its scheduled refurbishment. – https://www.mouseplanet.com/12151/Disneyland_Resort_Update_for_July_1622_2018
