January 12th marks 20 years since Downtown Disney opened to the public as part of the Disneyland Resort expansion. To celebrate, a few locations offered discounts of special deals. Sephora is offering 20 products under $20 through January 17th, Jazz Kitchen Express offered 20 beignets for $20, and Wetzel’s Prezels offered 20% off of rainbow crunch pretzels. – https://twitter.com/Disneyland/status/1349038583135481857
Since the New Year, there have been some changes at Downtown Disney. Some of the shops have closed, while others have reopened. Sprinkles Cupcakes has closed, although they state that it is temporary. Asian Street Eats, which has been open less than a year has closed and it’s permanent food truck has been removed. Lower crowds after New Years has resulted in some changes to Buena Vista Street. Guests can now just walk right into the former theme park entrance without waiting or any cast members at the gates. Stage 17, which is home to the Hollywood Backlot Premiere Shop, has moved it’s entrance to Hollywood Land and discontinued the entrance from the esplanade. With Mardi Gras coming up in February this year, Jazz Kitchen Express has started offering some specials, including Mardi Gras Glazed Beignets! Merchanside from the Disney Pixar film Up has appeared at the resort. Disneyland has been announced as the first mass vaccination site in Orange County. The vaccination site will be setup and available later this week to start vaccinating eligible people who live or work in Orange County. Vaccinations are available by appointment only.
