News:

Space Mountain has reopened after a guest incident occurred last Tuesday. A guest climbed out of one of the attractions rocket-shaped ride vehicles during the coaster’s initial lift hill tunnel. The attraction was closed for several days after the incident while the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health investigated to find out how the guest was able to get out of the rocket, and why the safety sensors did not immediately trigger an emergency stop. – https://www.mouseplanet.com/12294/Disneyland_Resort_Update_for_February_4__10_2019#news4

Due to the weather this week, which included gusty winds, the scrim on the scaffolding around Sleeping Beauty Castle was removed showing some of the preliminary work on the new paint job. Most of it looks to be primer at this point, but you can see the different colors, which look interesting. – https://www.micechat.com/216286-disneyland-update-the-soggiest-place-on-earth/

One of our supporters in the chat, Brittany C., was in the parks this week and let us know about how the rain was keeping the crowds down. She said that even popular attractions like Indiana Jones had less than a 15 minute wait. – Brittany C in the chat

Another story related to the weather was the early closure of the parks on February 2nd. Disneyland was scheduled to remain open until midnight, but closed at 10pm instead. This update was pushed out to the Disneyland mobile app to inform guests of the change. – https://wdwnt.com/2019/02/disneyland-park-closing-early-february-2nd-due-to-rain/

A new princess dining experience has come to the resort, although it is priced for royalty as well. Starting March 30th, you can dine with different Disney Princesses at Napa Rose for $125 per person. Disney is selling this as an experience more than just a meal to justify the higher price. The food selections that they have advertised are also not typical breakfast items and include Mac and Cheese, and beef sticks for the kids, and shepherd’s pie, braised short ribs, and pork belly for the adults. – https://www.mouseplanet.com/12294/Disneyland_Resort_Update_for_February_4__10_2019#news3

The first ramped playground in Anaheim for children with disabilities opened recently with help from the Disneyland Resort. The new playground includes features such as a Unity Spinner, a merry-go-round which includes seat belts for wheelchairs, a teeter-totter that makes it easy to transfer from a wheelchair. There are also features for visually impaired children such as braille panels. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2019/01/disneyland-resort-sponsors-anaheims-first-ramped-playground-for-children-with-disabilities/

Loading into the tram at the end of the day has changed a bit. If you are taking the tram to Mickey and Friends parking structure, new switchbacks have been setup to direct guests to different loading areas to try and make the loading process more efficient. This step was much needed since the trams will soon be serving two large structures full of guests. – https://www.micechat.com/216121-disneyland-resort-update-orbits-altered/

The new menu for Salt and Straw was released for February and is themed to chocolate for the Valentines Day holiday. They are calling it their “Choclatier Series” – https://www.micechat.com/216286-disneyland-update-the-soggiest-place-on-earth/

The Disneyland mobile app has been updated to make mobile ordering a little easier and more streamlined. More images of the different food items have been added to help those who make decisions based on what things look like to find exactly what they want. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2019/02/mobile-order-experience-introduces-new-and-enhanced-look-for-guests-at-disneyland-resort-and-walt-disney-world-resort/
