News this Week:

Dia de Los Muertos will be celebrated again this fall at the resort. In DCA, most of the celebration will be themed around Coco in the Paradise Gardens area, where you can share memories of loved ones on the memory wall. There will also be mask making, and photo opportunities. A Musical Celebration of Coco will bring song and dance to the bandstand, telling the story of Miguel from Coco. In Cars Land, there will be a remembrance alter at Ramone’s House of Body Art for Doc Hudson. Over in Disneyland, Zocalo Park in Frontierland will have the typical colorful decorations and food from Rancho del Zocalo. These festivities begin on September 7th and run through November 2nd. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2018/08/enjoy-the-spirit-of-dia-de-los-muertos-this-fall-at-disneyland-resort/

Well, well, well, what have we here? It seems that an updated Oogie Boogie popcorn bucket will be making its way to the parks for the Halloweentime festivities this year. The new bucket is brighter has more neon like and features a new colorful strap. Joining Oogie Boogie is a Cauldron Popcorn Bucket that has a green concoction boiling over the side to make a skull, Poison Apple Glow Cubes are returning in red, green and purple. You will have to travel to collect them all as the red color will be all over Disneyland, the purple will be a Carthay Circle exclusively, and the green will be at AbracadaBar or Jock Lindsey’s Hanger Bar in Walt Disney World.

There will also be a Green Poison Apple Stein, the Headless Horseman Straw Clip, and the “Haul-o-ween”-inspired Tire Pumpkin Straw. The standard popcorn buckets will also get a new look, to see that, head on over to the link in the show notes.https://www.laughingplace.com/w/news/2018/08/09/oogie-boogie-popcorn-bucket-returning-and-more-halloween-novelties-unveiled-for-disneyland-walt-disney-world/

An entire coffin load of new New Haunted Mansion and Nightmare Before Christmas merchandise has hit the shelves at the Port Royal Curious and Curiosities. Foolish mortals can purchase new clothing, ears, ornaments, holiday stockings, and even Jack Skellington gloves. According to cast members, the main merchandise for Halloween will be available this Saturday. – https://micechat.com/202606-disneyland-photo-update-if-we-cant-fix-it/

Tickets are still available for Mickey’s Halloween party. Prices start at $105 and jump up to $130 closer to Halloween. During the event be on the look out for the headless horseman, satisfy your sweet tooth with trick or treat stations set up around the resort, get the chance to meet some of your favorite villains, and enjoy the Frightfully Fun parade and the Halloween Screams Fireworks! – https://micechat.com/202374-disneyland-resort-update-tanked/

As we had mentioned in an earlier episode, the new hotel construction is being delayed due to old underground gas tanks left over from the old Richfield gas station. 60 years ago, the old gas station stood near the southern entrance of the Disneyland Hotel. Building the new hotel requires removal of the old tanks and decontamination of the site. Depending on how contaminated the soil is, this could delay construction almost 8 months. – https://micechat.com/202374-disneyland-resort-update-tanked/

World of Color originally was scheduled to be down for just a couple weeks earlier this year. This was then extended to a couple months, then through the end of summer, and now they are shooting to have it completed by the end of the year. Some fear that it may not be until early next year that guests will be able to enjoy this night time spectacular again! But what is the problem and why is it taking so long to complete? Rumor has it that there are issues with the electrical and plumbing that need to be repaired. This may even include Disney having to dig up the lagoon to properly fix things! – https://micechat.com/202374-disneyland-resort-update-tanked/

In a sad bit of news, especially for me, the monorail has cut its operating day down to just about 5 hours. Maintenance has failed in fixing the onboard air conditioning, so the trains can only operate when the outside temperatures are comfortable. Currently, with the Southern California heatwave, this has limited the operating hours 8-11 the morning and 10:15 to midnight on most days. – https://micechat.com/202606-disneyland-photo-update-if-we-cant-fix-it/

With the Tiki Room now behind construction walls, allowing Disney to update the entrance and exit to better accommodate guests with wheelchairs. The ramp will most likely be built in the Tiki Garden. In addition, guests will be directed to exit through Tropical Hideaway. This change will have a positive impact on traffic flow in the main walk way.Fear not my fellow Dole Whip lovers, the Tiki Juice Bar is open during this update! – https://micechat.com/202606-disneyland-photo-update-if-we-cant-fix-it/
