News:
It is that time of year again to keep your eyes peeled for hidden Easter Eggs around the resort! This year, there are THREE games in the Eggstraviganza! Each board is $9.99 plus tax, and can be purchased at select merchandise locations around the resort. One game board is for Disneyland park, one is for Disney California Adventure, and finally one for Downtown Disney. Once guests have found all the eggs, the game boards can be returned for one of six collectable eggs. Redemption locations are at the Plaza Point on Main Street, Elias & Co. on Buena Vista Street, and Disney’s Pin Traders in Downtown Disney. The eggstraviganza is available March 31st through April 17th. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/03/eggstravaganza-is-hippity-hoppity-fun-at-the-disneyland-resort/
The Disneyland Resort honored 100,000 years of work from Cast Members with two parties at Disney California Adventure last week. The party featured an open bar and an all-you-can-eat buffet. The cast members that were celebrated were those with over 10 years of service. This included 102 that worked for 40 years at Disneyland, 46 who worked 45 years, and 14 who worked 50 years! Half of the attractions and more than two-dozen Disney, Pixar, and Marvel characters were on hand. It was the largest employee service celebration in Disneyland history. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/03/28/disneyland-honors-100000-years-of-work-with-employee-service-celebration/
A sad bit of news to report this week as one of, if not the most famous cast members at the resort is retiring! Maynard, who Tage has been aware of since the late 90s, is stepping away from the Happiest Place on Earth on April 1st. This isn’t an April fools joke though! We were lucky enough to meet him at the Enchanted Tiki Room during our visit in December. He was almost as big of a character as Mickey Mouse himself. Guests were always in for a treat when he was at a location. Disneyland just won’t be the same without him, but he deserves some time to himself in retirement! – https://www.micechat.com/317538-disneyland-cast-member-maynard-smith-retires/
Calling all single riders! For the first time since the attraction opened, Web Slingers will offer a single rider line. The new single rider entrance is located between the stand-by entrance and the Lightning Lane entrance. The Disney Food Blog reported that they waited just 17 minutes in the single rider line when the stand-by line was 65 minutes. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/03/24/single-rider-line-now-available-for-web-slingers-a-spider-man-adventure-in-disneyland/
With Fantasmic! retuning in the next couple of months and Pirates of the Caribbean down for an extended refurbishment, it is the perfect time to re-imagine the waterfront of New Orleans Square. Walls went up almost two weeks ago and work is underway to remove some of the elevated sections of the walkway to provide for more queuing options for Pirates, and better crowd flow for Fantasmic! From the view over the construction walls, the planters have gone away, but the trees have remained. – https://www.micechat.com/317860-dateline-disneyland-disney-dining-drama-downtown-disney-demolition/
One place that the trees have not been spared is in the Pirates Queue where the two older trees have been trimmed back for removal soon. The trees are planned to be replaced in this location to keep the much needed shade while waiting in line for Pirates. – https://www.micechat.com/317860-dateline-disneyland-disney-dining-drama-downtown-disney-demolition/
Another experience from a Galaxy Far, Far Away is coming to Tomorrowland at the end of April. Starting on April 29th, Hyperspace Mountain will launch guests into the Star Wars universe. This experience will not be available for long, so be sure to check it out if you are visiting around the end of April into May. For those who have not experienced this version of Space Mountain, it is basically a Star Wars overlay for the popular indoor coaster. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/03/28/hyperspace-mountain-is-coming-back-to-disneyland-for-a-limited-time/
Pins fans get excited! Some new limited edition pins, themed to Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, Easter, and St. Patrick’s Day have arrived around the resort. The limited edition Easter pin features Sleeping Beauty Castle and an Easter basket full of eggs with Disneyland at the bottom for $19.99. The Pirates pin has a skeleton pirate sitting on some treasure with 55th Anniversary on the top and Pirates of the Caribbean at the bottom for $17.99. Kermit the Frog is sitting in a pot of gold for the St. Patrick’s Day pin for $17.99. Finally, the Star Wars pins feature Lieutenant Bek or Vi Moradi with an orange Resistance logo and the word Resist on the top for $19.99. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/03/limited-edition-easter-and-star-wars-pins-limited-release-pirates-of-the-caribbean-and-st-patricks-day-pins-arrive-at-disneyland-resort/
This next story is something that we saw ourselves while visiting the resort last week. The new Disney Vacation Club or DVC tower has started vertical construction! when completed, the new tower will stand 12 stories high and add 350 time share villas to the resort. No date on when this tower is scheduled to be completed. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/03/24/photos-vertical-construction-has-begun-on-the-disneyland-hotel-dvc-tower/
Last week, Magic Key Holders were able to pick up a free souvenir at Disney California Adventure! A Magic Key Holder themed reusable straw was given out to Keyholders on March 21st, 23rd, and 24th. The straw came in a blue carrying case, with a carabiner clip on one end, and unscrews to reveal the straw. The straw itself is blue and split into three pieces, which screw together to make a full length straw. It even came with a straw cleaner. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/03/19/only-select-guests-can-grab-disneylands-new-free-souvenir/
